Here are a few statistics from the year 1906. It seems a lot has changed:
? The average life expectancy in the U.S. is 47 years
? 14% of homes in the U.S. have a bathroom.
? 8% of homes have a telephone; cost of a three-minute call from Denver to New York City is $11
In 1906 a group of Oklahoma business leaders came together to form the „not-for-profit‟ credit association known as the National Association of Credit Men (NACM) to create an exchange for credit information purposes. HAPPY
BIRTHDAY NACM MidAmerica.
Drug Testing Legislation of Interest to Member Firms of NACM MidAmerica stA call to action was requested from member firms on March 31. The issue has to do with a “swabbing” technique for use by employers for drug testing. While this may not seem to be a credit issue, it does come out of the
legislative coalition in which NACM MidAmerica is involved. More voices on the issues we are following, like this
one, also means more voices when we are faced with legislative issues that pertain to credit. Thank you for
responding to our call to action. Mike Brittain, CAE, President.
Interest in Deductions Management Group Continues to Grow
Thirty-nine (39) member companies have been identified as having interest in a specialized industry credit group to
address critical issues causing creditors not to be paid. Many large retailers routinely take deductions from creditor
invoices with little or no explanation. In some cases, customers give bizarre explanations. In any case, the creditor
is left with a major collection problem while still being expected to deliver. While deduction management is a
growing problem for many companies, there is a solution. The solution is proper and appropriate discussion and
discovery of management tools enabling creditors to learn how to manage deductions. If your company
experiences random or arbitrary customer deductions, please contact Mike Brittain, CAE, to learn more about how
you can be involved in the formation of this important industry group. Contact email@example.com
