    President’s Letter

As the chapter year comes to an end I cannot help but reflect on some of the results of our goals for the

year. Chapter membership continues to rise with the latest statistics showing just below 400 members

(398 as of the last report from IIA headquarters). I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of

you involved in our chapter membership development as the gains were well in excess of our 10% goal.

A special thanks goes out to Dr Engle at USF for his emphasis on student membership and dedication to

our profession. The chapter reached another major milestone with the creation of the Tampa Bay IIA

website. Bob McCall has worked hard to bring full functionality to the site and continues to work on new

additions each month. The most recent addition to the website was the annual member survey. If you

have not already done so, please take a few minutes to provide your valuable comments. As noted in

prior letters we continue to emphasize the quality of our seminar training. The seminars (training)

continue to be the heart of our chapter member benefits and our number one priority. These programs

have been so successful that in 2002 we will begin to explore new locations for these seminars as

attendance continues to rise and we outgrow existing facilities.

The board has approved the members of the Nominations Committee (five members) to present next

year’s slate of officers/governors at the next seminar on April 2, 2002. The general membership will vote ndon next year’s slate of officers at the April 2 meeting. Please be sure to let the new officers know if you st are interested in participating in a committee for the next chapter year (begins on June 1). The elected

President and VP of Education will be attending the Leadership Conference in Orlando in late April. This

year’s event includes a trip to IIA Headquarters to tour the offices and facilities. I am confident that you

will be hearing more about the officer’s trip in the upcoming months.

I am very proud of our accomplishments as a chapter and feel we are very well positioned for the future. I

would like to thank each and every one of you for your involvement in chapter activities. It is your

involvement that truly makes this chapter great.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the April seminar. Don’t forget to visit the website to complete the

member survey. Please feel free to contact me directly at (941) 907-7608 or via e-mail at

    bmakowski@fcci-group.com.

Thank you.

    Membership Matters Campaign

Don’t keep IIA membership benefits under your hat; let everyone know that IIA membership matters!

Strengthening our chapter programs, bolstering our leadership, and growing our organization all require that we pay

close attention to membership. As such, The IIA has developed a membership campaign called Membership Matters

and there are two easy ways to participate:

    1. Personally recruit new members; or

    2. Let the IIA do the recruiting for you by sending them information on potential members.

To sweeten the pot, The IIA has added some great incentives that you can win:

    ? An all-inclusive International Conference 2002 package

? An Omni Hotels and airfare package

    ? A Palm Pilot

? IIA products and services; and

? Bonus Bucks that may be redeemed for educational products and programs, and membership renewal.

As an added bonus, by participating in the campaign you could help our chapter win an IIA On-site Chapter Seminar

presented by an expert instructor! For complete details refer to the IIA Web site at www.theiia.org under

Membership, or pick up a brochure at the next chapter event.
