Please read the following notes carefully before completing the application
form. They are designed to help you in applying for the LSE-PKU Summer
Applicants from outside mainland China, including applicants from Hong Kong,
Macau and Taiwan, should apply directly to the LSE (see below).
Applicants from within mainland China should apply directly to the CCER at
Peking University (see below).
1. The dates of the 2006 LSE-PKU Summer School are Monday 14 August through
Saturday 26 August 2006. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2006.
2. Your application to the LSE-PKU Summer School will be assessed on the basis
of the information you provide on this form. If the information provided is
insufficient, we may have to contact you for further information, and a decision on
your application may be delayed. In order to avoid delay, please provide as much
information as necessary on this form.
3. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the beginning of the course.
4. Applicants are required to provide copies of their degree certificates or academic
transcripts with their application. We regret that we are not able to process
applications without supporting documents.
5. All applicants must name one referee whom we may consult about their

This will help to ensure that you are notified of the decision on your application as
quickly as possible.
7. The LSE-PKU Summer School is taught in English. Applicants are expected to be
proficient in the use of English. Applicants whose first language is not English
must provide details of their proficiency in the English Language. The minimum
standard is 600 TOEFL (Old Grade), 250 TOEFL (computer based grade), 6.5
IELTS or their equivalent. If you have had University level instruction in English,
you do not need to submit any TOEFL/IELTS certification. However, you should
give full details of this instruction in Section 3.1 of the application form.
8. If your preferred course as listed in the brochure has prerequisites, but you have
not satisfied these prerequisites, you should contact the LSE-PKU Summer
School (at LSE or PKU, depending on where you are applying from) before
submitting your application.
9. The application fee and the tuition fee for the LSE-PKU Summer School are:

The application fee of 450 RMB or ?30 must be submitted with the application form. We are unable to process applications without the application fee.

13. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2006. The completed application
form, together with all supporting material and non-refundable application fee, should reach the appropriate address (LSE or PKU, depending on whether you are applying from outside mainland China or within mainland China) no later than this date. Applications received after this date will be considered only if places are still available.

passes at GCE A level standard. Applicants from other countries should possess an
equivalent level of qualification. e.g. the International Baccalaureate.
The Intermediate (200) and Advanced (300) level courses may have prerequisites
(read the course outlines in the brochure with care – these specify the prerequisites).
