INTER SCHOOLS EQUESTRIAN JUMPING COMPETITION

RULES

1. The competition shall be judged under the show jumping rules of eventing as appropriate. The judges’

    decision shall be final.

2. Team Competition - Each class will consist of two rounds. The second round will be a jump off over a

    shortened raised course and will be timed. Riders will be required to jump both rounds regardless of their

    scores in the first round with the exception of those eliminated. Teams are of four, best three riders’ scores to

    count. Rosettes to 6th place. Trophy for winning team in each class.

3. Individual Competition - Each class will consist of two rounds. The second round will be a jump off over

    a shortened raised course and will be timed. Riders will only be required to jump the second round if they are

    clear after the first. Should there be less than 8 clear riders after the first round then riders with the minimum

    of faults will be asked to participate in the jump off in order to determine the top eight positions. Rosettes to

    8th place. Medals for winners of each class.

4. All competitors entered in the team event are automatically counted in the individual event. No additional

    entry fee is required.

5. Overall trophy for best school based on top 4 competitors per school (any classes). Total points tally

    based on 1stndrdththththth = 10, 2 = 8, 3 = 7, 4 = 6, 5 = 5, 6 = 4, 7 = 3, 8 = 2, All other double clears = 1

7. Hats conforming to BS4673/BS4472, body protectors, medical armband and correct footwear to be worn at

    all times when mounted.

8. All competitors must be in full time education at the school they represent.

9. All ages are as at 1st September 2007 i.e. Under 11 is currently year 6 or younger, under 13 is currently

    year 8 or younger and over 13 is currently year 9 or older.

10. Horse and rider combinations may only compete once in each class to a maximum of three classes.

    11. Dress XC colours and school numnahs allowed. Show jackets are not required. Please dress smartly

    and appropriately.

12. When jumping practice fences in the warm up arena please keep the red wing on the right.

13. Please do not skip lorries and trailers out into the car park. Use manure trailers provided.

14. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.

15. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry and also to amend the schedule if necessary.

    Whilst all reasonable steps have been taken to ensure the health and safety of persons present at this event, The

    King Alfred School accept no liability for any accident, loss or damage to any person, animal or property

    whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breech of contract or otherwise. All persons attending this

    event must take responsible precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey all instructions by the

    school or by officials and stewards acting on its behalf.
