DPD Switzerland and
GastroSuisse sign cooperation agreement
Dübendorf/Zürich, 22 July 2009 – DPD Switzerland, the number-one
private parcel service on the Swiss domestic market, and
GastroSuisse, Switzerland's leading national association for hotels and restaurants, have signed a cooperation contract for the
establishment of a countrywide DPD PARCELSHOP network in Swiss hotels and restaurants. From January 2010 new DPD PARCELSHOPS will be available to the public in around 200 locations. The aim over the next 3 to 5 years is to set up a total of 1000 locations throughout the country where parcels can be picked up or handed in for shipment.
The benefits of the DPD PARCELSHOPS: both private and business shippers can send off or pick up parcels outside of office hours and at the weekend somewhere nearby – at hotels and restaurants which are suited to
accepting and handing out parcels and have specially trained staff. The priority for DPD Switzerland is customer friendliness and providing a professional and reliable shipping service at competitive prices.
Klaus Künzli, Central President of GastroSuisse, confirms the benefits of the new DPD PARCELSHOPS for both consumers and the members of his association: "With its approximately 21,000 members GastroSuisse is aware of its economic and business responsibilities. We are responsive to the dynamism of social and business developments and we launch and promote business initiatives which are future oriented. In an age of general mobility the DPD PARCELSHOPS offer the public reliable facilities for collecting and sending off parcels at any time, while at the same time providing our members with new earnings opportunities."
For Georges Champoud, General Director of DPD Switzerland, the important factor is that with this project private enterprise is showing its ability to make use of existing infrastructures to provide an up-to-date,
value-added service for which many people have been waiting. "In GastroSuisse we have found a partner which has exactly what we expect in terms of corporate culture and efficiency. We are looking forward to the cooperation. We always aim to do our best for our customers and we are convinced that our partner will do the same."
