    We are continually adding classes to our schedule and we accept recommendations!

Knitting

Knitting 101/ Intro to Knitting - If you have no knitting experience, or have tried a few times but quit because that

    scarf was just taking too darn long and you got bored, then this is the class for you! This class will teach you the basics, and

    together we will create something small, manageable and fabulous. Not only will you leave with a finished project, but

    you’ll have the motivation and the tools to keep knitting! Offered Tuesdays and Wednesdays (note: this is a day change; call for start dates) evenings from 6-8 pm OR Saturdays 11am-1pm (ongoing start). Classes are $75 for 4 weeks.

Knit Workshop Are you ready to move to the next level with your knitting, but don’t want to venture alone? This class

    will guide you through pattern or chart reading, knitting in the round, or whatever is tripping you up. Participants will

    select their own projects and each class will begin with a few general tips. Starting Thursday January 8th for 4 weeks for

    $75. FULL

    Knit Pattern Modifications and Design - Ever wonder why Debbie Bliss has a fiber empire, when you're the one

    modifying all her patterns? Or why Wenlan Chin's patterns only go up to size 33" chest? Discover the joys, sorrows, and

    great mysteries of hand knitting patterns by writing your own! Take those modifications to a whole new level, and learn

    the ins and outs of math, sizing, and explaining those brilliant techniques you invented to someone else. Two sessions

    over two weeks, including test knitting and proofreading! Feel free to come with no particular project in mind, but

    students are encouraged to bring an item they created without someone else's pattern, or a modified finished object or

    difficult pattern as a starting point for discussion. Meets Wednesdays, January 7 and 21 from 6-8pm for $30.

Beaded Spiral Hat: This close-fitting knit cap adds a bit of sparkle with elegant glass seed beads worked into the spiral

    design using the crochet hook method of beading. This 2-session class will teach a modified version of the popular

    "Odessa" pattern by Grumperina (a free download at www.ravelry.com). This is a great project for beginners who want to

    learn knitting in the round, or for experienced needle crafters looking to jazz up their hat-making skills. Come in to Stitch

    House to see the shop model! This Class will run two Sunday mornings from 10am to 12pm on January 18 & 25. The cost

    is $30, not including materials, and is due at the time of registration.

Kid’s Knit- For kids only! Ages 8-12 are invited to learn to knit or refine the skills they learned in one of our summer

    camps. This class will teach you the basics and together we will create a fantastic project of your choice. Not only will you leave with a finished project, but you’ll have the motivation and the tools to keep Knitting! After this class they’ll have the

    skills to make great gifts for all their friends. Kids will learn how to understand and follow pattern instructions, cast on,

    and bind-off. Starting Friday, January 9th from 3-5pm for 3 weeks ($60, materials included)

    Drop-in Help - Learn to knit or get help with a tricky part of your current project. Space is limited to no more than 2

    people per session. Call to reserve your time slot today! Saturdays & Sundays from 1-4 ($10 per hour)

Sewing

Sewing Workshop - Pick your own project and push your creative limits! This four-week class is organized in a

    workshop model for beginners and new sewers. Participants can select their own patterns and fabrics (should be graded

    “easy” or “beginner”). The instructor will work with you to help you read and follow pattern instructions, cut out patterns

    and make minor pattern alterations for a better fit. You will be encouraged to be creative and make a very unique garment. Starting Thursday, January 8th from 6-8pm ($75 for 4 weeks)

Pattern Making Take your sewing skills one step further with a pattern making class with this 6 week class. Create a

    perfect fit sloper for you! This course will teach you the technical side of garment construction with a particular focus on

    measurement and fit. You will further develop your sewing skills and learn critical concepts of clothing construction and

    design with Casey. Starting Tuesday, January 6th from 6-8pm ($100 for 6 weeks)This class includes materials!

    Home Decorating 101: Window Treatments - This 4 week class will provide you with the skills and confidence

    needed to construct ONE window treatment for your home. You will review the correct way to measure your window to

    ensure a proper fit. At the completion of this course you will have a functioning treatment and instruction on how to

    mount and install it in your home. During the series you are welcome to use the shop machines, when available, to make

    another one to compliment the one you’ll work on during class time. Starting Wednesday, January 7th from 6-8pm for 4

    weeks ($100)

    Intro to Sewing So you want to learn to sew? Pick your own project and get started. You will learn how to read and

    follow pattern instructions, cut out patterns and make minor pattern alterations for a better fit. We start sewing the first

    week so come with a pattern and fabric ready to go. Class description lists supplies needed for this class. Starting

    Saturday, January 17th from 10:30-12:30 ($75 for 4 weeks) FULL

Kid’s Sew - For kids only! Ages 8-12 are invited to learn to sew or refine the skills they learned in one of our summer

    camps. This class will teach you the basics and together we will make drawstring flannel pajama pants. Kids will learn how

    to understand and follow pattern instructions, cut out patterns, and use basic machine functions. Starting Friday, January 30th from 3-5pm for 3 weeks ($60, materials included)

Introduction to Sewing: Butler Bags - Amy Butler is the designer of beautiful fabrics and patterns. Using her

    patterns and fabrics in just two sessions you’ll have a great new tote or bag to show off to all your friends! This class will give you experience in the basics of sewing so that you will have the knowledge and confidence to undertake projects on

    your own. You will learn how to understand and follow pattern instructions. All materials for this class are available at

    Stitch House. Starting Thursday, February 5 for three weeks from 6-8pm for $60.

Serger Basics - This introductory serger class will involve getting familiar with the threading, care, and use of your

    machine and meeting others who are branching out into the world of overcasting too! Bring your machine or try out the

    instructor’s to see if serging might be your next big crafting step! One-day class Sunday, January 18th from 1-4pm ($15)

    Slipcovers are EASY! If you can make a purse, you can make a slip cover. Don't let the size intimidate you! Covering a

    chair is very simple and satisfying, and will help you learn the techniques needed to tackle the sofa next! Students will be

    provided beforehand with a template for measuring an armless chair. Students will need to bring those measurements

    to the first class along with their fabric and coordinating thread. Patterns will be cut during the first class. Starting

    Wednesday, February 4th from 6-8pm for 4 weeks. ($100)

    If you are registered for a sewing class you will be given a card good for a one-time 10% discount at Sew-Fisticated Fabrics located at 735 Morrissey Blvd. near Lambert’s Fruit Market. Fabric can also be purchased at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Winmil Fabric at 111 Chauncy Street in downtown Boston.

    New at Stitch House: CLUBS!

     st1 Friday Sweater Club: The Friday Night Sweater Club will be a motivated group of knitters with a wide range of

    abilities wanting to knit and chat while making a sweater. By creating this atmosphere knitters will have an opportunity to

    enjoy the company of other knitters working on similar projects. Limited technical assistance will be provided during this

    club time. There is no fee charged to participate, but we encourage, and it is our hope, you will purchase your project

    materials from Stitch House. The 1st Fridays through June include December 5, January 2, February 6, March 6, April 3,

    May 1 and June 5 from 6-8pm. Please RSVP in advance so we can provide enough snacks and beverages for the group.

2nd Sunday Sock Club: The Sunday Sock Club will be a motivated group of knitters with a wide range of abilities

    wanting to knit and chat while knitting socks from the simple to the simply fantastic. By creating this atmosphere

    knitters will have an opportunity to enjoy the company of other knitters working on similar projects. Limited technical

    assistance will be provided during this club time. There is no fee charged to participate, but we encourage, and it is our

    hope, you will purchase your project materials from Stitch House. The Sunday Sock Club meets the 2nd Sunday of the

    month through June including December 14, January 11, February 8, March 8, April 12, May 10 and June 14 from

    12noon-2pm. Please RSVP in advance so we can provide enough snacks and beverages for the group.

    2nd Friday Quick Sew: The Friday Night Quick Sew Club will be a motivated group of sewers with a wide range of

    abilities wanting to sew a quick item. By creating this atmosphere new and experienced sewers will have an opportunity to

    enjoy the company of other sewers on a Friday evening. Instruction and materials will be provided for each night and item

    description will be announced the week prior. The fee for this monthly club is $10 per session to cover the cost of all

    materials. The 2nd Fridays through June including December 12, January 9, February 13, March 13, April 10, May 8 and

    June 12 from 6-8pm. Space is limited. Please RSVP in advance so we can provide enough snacks and beverages for the

    group.

3rd Friday Unfinished Projects: What knitter hasn’t been so excited by a new yarn purchase that a perfectly lovely

    work-in-progress got pushed aside? We want to encourage you to dig deep and find those old projects that with just a few rdrdhours of attention can be worn or gifted. Join us free of charge on the 3 Friday of each month from 6-8pm; the 3

    Fridays including January 16, February 20, March 20, April 17, May 15 and June 19. Because nothing feels quite like

    finishing a handmade item the challenge is to get it done! The point is to stay on track and help each other out.
