Associated Mining Construction is specializing on shaft sinking projects in the potash mining

    industry using proprietary frozen ground shaft sinking method. The projects are in the range

    of $200M to $800M. Some clients are: BHP, PCS, Agrium, API and Mosaic. Participated in

    the setup and execution of the following projects:

PCS Scissors Creek Service Shaft (from start of execution stage) this is a $200M potash

    shaft sinking project. Developed project execution plan, participated in the development of

    project scope statement, budget, schedule. Liaised with client on deliverables. Scheduled

    and facilitated peer reviews and PHA sessions using PHA Pro V8.0. Defined engineering

    scope, schedule and monitor progress against schedule and budget. Supervised an

    engineering staff of 8 and several large consulting engineering firms involved in the detailed

    design of the project deliverables. Acted as project manager on project site if circumstances

    so dictated. Enforced safety procedures and ensure that corporate safety goals are met.

    Reviewed and approved engineering design for the sinking arrangement (Galloway, winches,

    sinking hoist, shaft services, dump arrangement, freeze plant, etc.) and permanent

    infrastructure. Liaised with construction companies during construction on technical matters.

    Manage the commissioning of the various systems.

Agrium Vanscoy shaft rehabilitation (from feasibility design stage). Developed Project

    Execution Plan, scope statement and budget.

PCS Cory shaft rehabilitation project. The scope of this project was to replace the bottom 21

    steel sets of the shaft station steel on the production shaft, remove and replace loading

    pocket and measuring bins. Visited the construction site weekly

Agrium Triton project (from feasibility design stage): develop Project Execution Plan, review

    feasibility level schedule and budget. Review, approve feasibility level studies on various

    aspects of the project.

Duties include:

? Lead the discipline engineering team to develop complete engineering packages for

    successful project completion.

    ? Mentor engineering staff. Manage staff levels. Hire staff as required.

    participated in the feasibility and detailed design and construction of different large mining

    projects. From June 2006 also acted as the discipline lead electrical and automation - for

    McIntosh Engineering Sudbury Office.

? Falconbridge Ltd Kidd Creed D Mine Project (Project Superintendent Feb 2004-Dec 2005).

    In charge of the design, project management and commissioning of all electrical,

    communication and control systems for all aspects of this $720M project. Systems

    included power distribution, fibre and Ethernet network, phone system, PLC and HMI

    systems, central blasting, micro seismic system, leaky feeder and video system.

    Supervised several engineering firms engaged in the design, the project staff and a

    construction crew of up to 30 men. Responsible for establishing and controlling budgets,

    schedule and safety aspects. Perform safety audit, spot checks and site visits.

    ? Inco Ltd (Senior Project Manager Jan 2006-May 2006). Supervised a group of engineers

    and designers performing the feasibility design of all electrical, communication and

    control systems for Totten Mine, Copper Cliff Deep and Kelly Lake mine expansion.

    Define work, package structure, budget and schedule. Developed work packages,

    estimates and supervised designers developing drawings for the study.

    ? Xstrata Nickel- Nickel Rim South Mine (Area Lead: Electrical design group June 2006-

    June 2009). Ongoing supervision of a group of twelve engineers, designers and PLC

    programmers performing the design of the under group power distribution and

    automation systems, PLC and HMI programming. Responsible for establishing the

    schedule and budget, controlling resources, mentoring junior and intermediate staff, and

    reviewing and sealing drawings and specifications.

    ? Provide design and review services for various design engineering firms and perform

    power system analysis and protection coordination studies using special software (SKM

    Power Tools for Windows).

    ? Xstrata Nickel Raglan Mine (Area Lead Energy Project June 2008-October 2008).

    Manage the prefeasibility study for the entire energy project (electrical and heat

    generation, distribution), with a budget of $280M. Manage the detailed design of the

    long lead items (generator set). Oversee a staff of fifty engineers, designers and drafts

    person performing the task. Set deliverables, schedule, and budget. Review and

    approve study reports and specifications and associated material.

    Project Engineer Transmission Projects

    ? Durban Electricity is one of the largest municipal electricity undertakings on the

    Southern Hemisphere with a peak demand of 1500MVA.

    ? Duties focused on the motivation, justification, design and project management of multi

    disciplinary multi million dollar transmission projects from conceptual stage through to

    commissioning.

    ? Design and project management of Plangweni 30MVA firm capacity 132kV OHTL fed

    132/11kV transmission substation. Responsibilities included, developing new technical

    specification and schedules for the requirements of the protection and control system

    utilizing MMS/UCA 2.0 communication for SCADA control, local HMI and inter bay

    communication and interlocking. As well as supervising the drafting office and liaising

    extensively with GE Multilin in Markham, Ontario for the details of the MMS/UCA 2.0

    implementation.

    ? Planning, design and project management of Quarry 132kV switchyard with 8 off 132kV

    feeder bays. Responsibilities included developing budgets, acquiring authority for

    expenditure by reporting to Metro council, selection and management of acquisition of

    suitable site, management of environmental impact study, acquiring of permits from

    relevant authorities for construction, and design of equipment layout and protection

    schemes (2x 3 terminal current differential 6x 2 terminal current differential primary

    with backup over current protection).

    ? Planning, design and project management of the upgrade of Roberts 33/11kV substation

    to 132/11kV. Responsibilities included: the securing of financial authority by reporting

    to Metro Council on the need for the upgrade, selection of 132kV cable and over head

    line servitude, preliminary profiling and positioning of towers, environmental impact

    study management, design of new protection scheme for combination 132kV overhead

    line and underground cable supply and new transformers, and the integration of existing

    and new equipment.

    ? Design and development of PLC tapchange control panel. Responsible for motivating

    and performing the detailed design of a voltage regulating panel controlling two

    transformers running in parallel. The control philosophy superseded the units available

    in the market with automatic, switching configuration recognition, automatic

    parallel/individual mode selection, and a novel method of control in circulating current

    mode.

    ? Participated in a project to develop a software tool for power system fault analysis and

    protection grading in Turbo Pascal language. Developed a graphical interface for

    network building, data input facility and developed an algorithm to identify and reduce

    parallel paths to a reduced single path. Calculated per unit values of equipment

    parameters, identified zero sequence path and performed fault level calculations with

    the symmetrical components method and superposition of all sources.
