Relaunch of No 7

    RELAUNCH OF NO7

Commentator:

The re-launch of such a large brand was a big challenge for everyone in Boots Manufacturing.

Once the formulations and designs had been finalised, the production workload was spread across Europe and as far a field as Japan in a quest for efficiency and reliability.

Joanne Carman, Project Manager for No7 new product introduction:

We’ve go three internal factories, our BCM Kosmetik facility in Germany, who are producing all of our cosmetics. Our BCM Cosmetique facility in France, who produce all of our foundations, and our D10 facility here in Nottingham who are producing all of our skincare.

We also work with a number of external suppliers right across the globe.

Friedhelm Hagenbruch, Sales Director for BM Kosmetik (No7):

It’s a big challenge for us because its not just new formulations, and new packaging. We want to make this new No7 line a real success in the market place, so we invest a lot in S quality in this operation.

Helen Taylor, No7 Key account manager:

We have new machinery and completely refurbished two key areas, the powders area and the nails and mascara area.

Friedhelm Hagenbruch, Sales director for BM Kosmetik (No7):

The biggest novelty is our new lipstick-moulding machine, which is a Vecala machine, which is fully automatic.

Joanne Carman, Project Manager for No7 new product introduction:

It adds that gloss finish that we require to the bullet and that’s what a lot of our premium houses actually do use.

Friedhelm Hagenbruch, Sales director for BM Kosmetik (No7):

With the best formulations and the best packaging we can make between 2500 and 3000 units per hour.

Joanne Carman, Project Manager for No7 new product introduction:

Our uplifting firming mask is coming from Japan, its been formulated in Japan and it uses

    Japanese ingredients and technology.

Helen Taylor, No7 Key account manager:

All our mascara bottles are blown, printed and then they are lacquered to get this lovely two-tone

effect that you see on all the products.

Joanne Carman, Project Manager for No7 new product introduction:

Within 2 to 3 days of that formulation being manufactured it’s packed off. That’s to make sure the

product remains really fresh and that mascara really does give intense volume, we’re getting four

    times the lashes.

With our essential moisturisers, when you remove the cap underneath there is a complete seal

    across the lid.

Helen Taylor, No7 Key account manager:

We’ve also improved the textures of our powders; they’ve just got a lovely feel to them and the packaging is much more premium looking.

Joanne Carman, Project Manager for No7 new product introduction:

Our press powder compact has a mechanism in it called CAM and CAM stands for Controlled

Automated Mechanism. When you push the button to open the compact the lid opens

automatically, which is really a first for No7, and a first for the market.

Commentator:

It’s been a mammoth task for Boots Manufacturing, for the re-launch alone, they have produced over 490 baths full of foundation, and over 880 baths full of skin care products and over 80 miles

of lipstick. That’s long enough to stretch through the Channel Tunnel 4 times!

We have done our best to provide you with the best products, I can’t wait to go out on February

    7

th and see it out there in store.

No7 is the best.

Everyone in Boots Manufacturing has risen to the challenge, and everyone in store can be sure

that every new No7 product has been created with care, and will be delivered on time.
