    Step 1:Warm-up

    1. Revision: Check the exercises on P215 and correct the mistakes. 2.Give Ss some pictures of the local specialties of Yichang,let Ss tell the names, then talk about them.

    Fruits: oranges,pears, peaches, grapes, watermelons, musk melons,

    strawberries, persimmons

    Wild grown species:the Chinese gooseberry and

    chestnut, mushroom, Jew's-ear

    Well-known ones : navel-shaped orange in Zigui, sesame oil with the

    brand “Qixing”, mushroom in Yuan’an, the rice of the tribute in

    Mingfeng , Green tea in Wufeng

    Step 2: Reading the summary account

    Give the Ss a short time to read the summary account .Then

    simply explain some famous ones in the summary.

     a. the Chinese gooseberry :

    Sweet and sour , abundant with juicy and full-body fragrance .It

    contains many kinds of vitamins and proteins as well as essential

    minerals that human being needs such as calcium , phosphorus,

    magnesium, iron and pectin.

    b. chestnut :

    Its reddish pulp contains many nutritious materials such as protein,

    fat, sugar, starch, high quality edible fiber and so on. Research

    shows that it has the function of improving blood circulation,

    building up constitution and prolonging life. c. persimmon:

It can be divided into two major types: edible persimmon and

    oil-persimmon. The edible persimmon is sweet and juicy with rich

    nutrition and can be made into persimmon cakes , persimmon

    sugar and many other products. Oil-persimmon is an important raw

    material for chemical industry.

    d. The Fragrant Mushroom is among the most famous edible fungus

    and is regarded as the "Treasure of Nutrients". The flesh is thick and

    looks bright in color with full fragrance and flowerlike designs. It is

    of great medicine value and has the function of anti-tumor and curing rickets deceases.

     Step 3: Reading Passage 1 Three Gorges Tea

    1. Pre-reading: Show Ss some tea, ask them some questions to lead the

    new passage. Then teaching the new words.

exercises on Page 221.

    4. It has many secondary functions: anti-cancer, disinfection,

    anti-radiation, anti-caducity .It can clear away the heart-fire and

    brighten the eyes, relieve a cough and promote production of

    body fluid, improve looks and strengthen the body, reduce weight

    and nourish the brain. It is really a good kind of nature green

    food.

5. Put 3-4 grammes of the tea in a cup and pour some boiling water,

    keep it for 2-3 minutes and then sup and taste slowly. When the tea

    water goes down to one-third of the cup, add boiling water again

    and the flavor stays as well. It is advisable that the boiling be

    added three times.
