Description: The SQAE is expected to work with the Software project management team (PM, EM and SDA) to ensure quality is addressed and embedded within the project. The SQAE effectively operates as the Project Managers "Eyes and Ears" on the project whilst being independent to escalate where appropriate non-conforming process and product to senior management. A suitably qualified engineer with Software Engineering experience obtained working within structured large company and running multiple projects. Ideally with experience of the whole lifecycle from cradle to grave is desirable. The projects will be of a military/defence background operating to AQAPs, Def-Stans, Mil-Stds, ECSSs, with ISO and TickIT accreditation.

    Depending on the project experience of performing SQA on the following, is required: Either embedded software, or GUI/MMI projects is required.

    Experience of company preferred Software development tools: (ClearCase, ClearQuest, Doors, MS Project, C++, Java, C, UML.

    An engineer conversant and a practitioner with all 23 high level processes, described in ISO 12207, which are employed within software engineering and with particular domain experience which are relevant to the particular project.

Crypto Manager

    Responsible for: Providing security and integrity to SATCOM and the Augmentation Networks (AN). Ensuring that cryptographic working practices and procedures are conducted in accordance with defined policies and legislation. The Crypto Manager is a key management position providing cryptographic vision and guidance across a dynamic and forward looking company whilst maintaining excellent working relationships with both internal and external, departments and agencies.

    Primary Duties: Managing all aspects of cryptographic delivery on a day to day, and strategic level, to ensure that delivered services are provided according to company standards and customer satisfaction.

    Crypto Net Controller for SATCOM and AN cryptographic nets, ensuring that cryptographic services are maintained and managed according to enforced laid down procedures.

    Ensuring the co-ordination of cryptographic requirements between Custodial Staff and Network Plans and Operations. Identify limitations and determine the correct level of cryptographic holdings, in both equipment and key material, and ensure that this material is strategically placed in order to best assure and react to, operational communications needs.

    Continued monitoring and development of service procedures and processes in accordance with current cryptographic and information assurance policy and legislation. Providing operational direction and guidance to a geographically disparate team of Custodian Officers and their Alternates.

    Liaising with external cryptographic and security agencies regarding policy, distribution and maintenance of cryptographic material, in both current and future systems, enabling the company to be best placed to react to commercial needs.

    Producing monthly and weekly cryptographic status reports for the Network Operations Manager and Network Director. Ensuring senior management is made immediately aware of any cryptographic issue that has significant impact on service provision and managing the necessary follow up action.

    Taking an active role in the function of the Key Management Working Group, the security Working Group and Compromise Board.

    Attend regular project reviews boards to ensure cryptographic and security requirements are captured and supported.

    Security Management of all cryptographic management facilities, ensuring accounts are maintained in accordance with security policies and affecting change where needed. PAN Operations Engineer 4584

    As a member of the PAN East Team at Stevenage working to the Team Manager, responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Ku SGS equipments and the associated baseband systems supported by the team. These systems include a wide range of satellite network equipments, Nortel Passport multiservice switches, Meridian PBX, Vocality Multiplexers and DIGITALK multi service platforms.     Job Definition:

    A dedicated Senior Level Manager in Telecom Services, TSV and Paradigm is appointed as the prime interface on risk matters.

    The TSRM will report to the Governance Director, (GD) at Telecom Services, (TSV) an executive level director reporting to the CEO of Telecom Services, and responsible for

    Governance and risk management issues at Management Board level and Astrium Services within the Chief Technology Office. With a primary risk focus of TSV business, customer interfaces, finance, new business and third party contracts, the TSRM will be responsible for ensuring appropriate risk management practices are in place that conform to recognised best practices.

    Responsible for: Setting, implementing, controlling and sustaining the risk management strategy and process for TSV. Primary champion of risk management at strategic, operational and project level.

    Building a Governance and risk aware culture within the organisation including appropriate education in the process, tools and reporting of risks and compliance with the Governance framework. Designing and reviewing processes for risk management. Maintaining the RMP. Management of the SKYNET 5 Insurance provisions in accordance with Schedule K of the CISD.

FEP Development Support Engineer

Location: Portsmouth

    Salary from ?30,000 to ?45,000 + pension + benefits + package + annual pay review An experienced Ground Segment Systems engineer with extensive knowledge and application in Digital Baseband Systems / Modems is required to provide technical support to European Space Agency for the procurement of the Front End Processors (FEP) for the Sentinel-1,2,3 missions.

    The FEP equipment will reside in the Earth Stations and extract the Instrument Source Packets from the demodulated base-band bit stream received from the Sentinel satellites. These packets will then be distributed for mission specific processing of the data content within the ESRIN Payload Data Ground Segment (PDGS). In order to perform this activity, the FEP must process the data as follows: Bit synchronisation - to detect the presence of a data-stream. Frame Synchronisation - to identify frame information Decoding (e.g. Reed Solomon) - error detection and correction of the data frames. De-randomisation - decoding defined randomisation added to improve bit-transition density to aid bit lock. De-multiplexing - to extract the Instrument Source Packets and distribute them to the appropriate destination based on packet source

    Therefore the selected candidate is required to perform the following technical activities over programme duration of three years: Support the preparation of the technical specifications for the procurement of the Front End Processor (FEP) for the Sentinel missions. Support the development and acceptance of the Sentinels FEP and the integration in the Sentinels Payload Data Ground Segment (PDGS).

    Support the definition of the test data sets required for the Sentinels FEP verification and acceptance, the definition and implementation of any related PDGS test data generation tool. Interface with the Sentinel-1/2/3 PDGS System Architects for the definition of interfaces, integration plans and overall project coherency.

    Support the Sentinel-1/2/3 PDGS System Architects to maintain the information related to the Sentinels PDGS FEP in the documentation repository, the Interface configuration control system, the Integration and system testing repository and the PDGS deliverables repository.

    An initial period of 3-4 months working with the prime contractor and ESA in Rome is essential in order to establish this key role as part of the overall Customer Industrial Team. Thereafter, the work package will be led from Portsmouth; however it is essential that the successful candidate is willing to travel in Europe to support meetings, reviews, verification campaigns etc.

    It is also essential that the candidate has a thorough understanding of Ground Station Data Stream Signal Processing, with related experience in subcontractor management,

    requirements management and in formal design and verification methods; it is desirable that the Candidate have knowledge of UML and DOORS.

    Job Objective: To run a through life support contract on a major secure satellite communications system programme, providing programme management control within a matrix organisation for all contracted support against the project. As part of the Customer Support Group, be responsible for providing the focal point of customer contact for all Skynet 5 support activity.

    Main Tasks : To ensure all Skynet 5 contracted and additional support activity is correctly authorised within the company and that project control aligns with company processes.
