In the era of knowledge-based economy, it has been widely recognized that creativity and innovation
are the main driving force of the economic growth. However, creativity and innovation are not only
technological development or creative thinking. This workshop aims to provide the participants with
a systematic and comprehensive framework, i.e., the 6P model for developing creative and
innovative capability and skills. The workshop has been given nearly 10 times each year recently in
Hong Kong and mainland China. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will have a
paramount view of theories and methods on creativity and innovation.

Profile of the Speaker: Dr Hongyi Sun, Bsc., Msc., PhD.
Dr. Hongyi Sun is currently an Associate Professor, the Department of Manufacturing Engineering & Engineering Management, at the City University of Hong Kong. He is
also the adjunct professor and PhD supervisor at Harbin Institute of technology (HIT).
His teaching and research areas include quality management, management of
technological innovation, manufacturing/operations strategy and international
comparative study. He teaches innovation technology and strategy courses to both
undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Sun has published more than 60 papers in
International Journals and conferences and has been a speaker in many international
conferences in Technological Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Sun had been a lecturer at Harbin Institute of technology (HIT) in 1986-1990
periods. He had also been an Associate Professor at Stavanger University College in
Norway in the 1994-1998 period. Dr. Sun is the HK/China representative in two large
international research networks: International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS)
and Continuous Innovation Network (CINet), both with more than 20 participating
countries. Dr.Sun is in the editorial board of International Journal of Technological
Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Management, International Journal of
Quality and Reliability Management, and International journal of Learning and
Dr Sun holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from Harbin University of Science
and Technology, a Master degree in Engineering Management from Harbin Institute of
Technology (HIT), both in China, and a Ph.D. in Technology Management from Aalborg
University in Denmark.
