Stages and apprenticeships in Rimini’s business

    firms

The associations of General Confederation of Italian Commerce, Confesercenti,

    General Confederation of Italian Industry and Confederation of National Crafts ,

    the employement center , the Province of Rimini have selected for the young

    people of Aquitaine, Aragòn, DolnySlaskie, Emilia-Romagna, Hessen, Pays de

    la Loire, Generalitat Valenciana, Wales, Vastra Gotaland et Wielkopolska some

    companies willing to welcome students willing to carry out experiences of stage

    in the next school year.

An opportunity to vocational guidance and learning which will allow them to get

    knowledge about the organization of a company (functions, rules, structures,

    offices, etc..) and to go deeply into the knowledge of a sector (weaving factory,

    placement of the company in the “filiera” (field), acquisitions and way out

    markets).

An opportunity to interact with other young in Europe and to have a better

    possibility for their future placement.

    The Economy of Rimini

    a dynamic, entrepreneurial system

In the province of Rimini the entrepreneurial spirit is strong and, thanks to many

    small businessmen and women, the local economy is particularly lively.

    This dynamism is marked by:

• a high level of entrepreneurship;

    • a high number of businesses, of which around 80% belong to the tertiary

    sector;

    • a high number of small companies relative to the regional context for all

    prevalent economic sectors.

Companies & Craft trades

• Altogether within the province there are 33,430 businesses, for a total of

    55,685 entrepreneurs, considering owners, partners and managers. Of these,

    3,712 are foreign (6.7%), whilst 33,235 were born in Rimini.

• As many as 10,022 firms are craft-based (30% of the total for the province).

    Craft trades are widespread and cover various sectors, but the most significant

    area is that of building work: from 2001 to 2006 the number of building firms

    increased by 30.8%, from 3,716 to 4,862.

Dominant sectors

    Within our province, renowned for its marked vocation for the tourist trade and

    the strongly seasonal nature of employment, there is no single direction of

    growth, but rather a more complex system, with various patterns of growth or

    decline seen in the different economic areas.

• the retail sector holds a dominant position, accounting for 27.6% of active

    businesses (more than twice the percentage for the hospitality and catering

    sector);

• there is a considerable presence of businesses providing services to other

    businesses, which account for 13.2%, putting them in second position in all

    provinces of the North-West

• the construction sector has recorded a positive trend. In the period 1997-2004,

    the number of businesses registered in this sector went from 9.2% to 13.4%;

    - unlike in other provinces of Romagna, agriculture is not widespread in the

    province of Rimini: only 8.8% of businesses perform this type of work.

Work in figures

    In recent years, the job market in the province of Rimini has seen a significant drop in unemployment, accompanied by an increase in levels of business and employment.

    • The employment rate in the province of Rimini, which stood at 63.8% in 2004, is still lower than the regional average of 68.3%. This negative performance can be attributed mainly to female employment: the rate of 53.7% of women in work, although it has climbed steeply since 1995, is lower than the regional average of 60.2%, whilst for men the figure is 74% (as against a regional rate of 76.2%).

• As regards the employment of young people, in the last ten years there has

    been an increase of around 4% (from 36.6% to 40.9%) for the 15-to-24-year-old age group, which can be ascribed almost entirely to the female population. The most dynamic age-group in terms of female participation in the workplace is that of 25-to-34-year olds.

    • In 2004, 85.7% of women were employed in the tertiary sector, whilst the remainder were almost entirely concentrated in the industrial sector. Male employment was distributed evenly across the different productive areas: 50% of men work in the tertiary sector, 21.6% in industry and 24.6% in construction.

• The youth rate - or the ratio of young people as a proportion of the total

    population is far higher than in all the other provinces in the region.

    • The unemployment rate, both total and male, is less positive than that for the region as a whole (5.8% total unemployment as against a regional average of 3.7%, and 3.9% for the North-East as a whole; the male unemployment rate is 4.1% compared with a regional average of 2.7% and 2.5% for the North-East).

    • The rate of female unemployment, on the one hand, has decreased considerably (by more than a third) in the past ten years, but on the other hand it is still less than encouraging when compared with regional figures (8.1% for the province, as against 5% for the region and 5.7% for the North-East).
